Tanked

Tanked

A community engagement and graffiti mitigation project funded through a WA Police crime prevention grant secured by the Shire of Northam.

The project involved an youth engagement workshop at the local primary school as well as a community engagement activity at the local skate park. Thoughts and ideas were shared through group brain storming and communal drawing. A spray painting workshop was also facilitated on large boards set up in the open at the skate park.

Artists developed the design for the mural incorporating stylised representations of local flora and fauna, historical references of the timber and steel industries, and Wundowie lettering. The spray painting of the mural with young people and their families took place over a single weekend, with the artists accommodated at the local Men’s Shed.

The tank is part of the Wundowie Campground, providing a colourful backdrop and entry statement to the town.
